Frankie Beverly Project Gets Stellar Nomination
SILKY SOUL MUSIC…AN ALL STAR TRIBUTE TO MAZE FEATURING FRANKIE BEVERLY
RECEIVES STELLAR NOMINATION
(San Francisco) – When the official nominees for the 25th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards were announced last week from Nashville, all Brantera Music Group label heads and husband and wife team, Anthony and Heather Beverly could say is, “I Wanna Thank You.”
That’s one of the 10 powerful tracks on the new CD, “Silky Soul Music… An All Star Tribute to Frankie Beverly” which was nominated in the Special Event CD of the Year category. The CD is the first and only tribute album of its kind celebrating the nearly 40-year music career of Maze featuring Frankie Beverly.
“I Wanna Thank You,” is the classic inspirational song, which was released on Maze’s “We Are One” LP in 1983. Twenty six years later, The Clark Sisters, J. Moss and Kiera Sheard recorded a stirring rendition of the song for the tribute album released this summer.
Heather Beverly said that to be considered for such a prestigious award as an independent label with its first release “was huge,” and certainly helped by the Clark Sisters, J. Moss and Kierra Sheard recording.
“To be nominated as a new independent label is a true blessing,” said Heather Beverly, entertainment attorney and chief executive officer, Brantera Music Group. “The Clark Sisters, J. Moss, Kierra Sheard and super producer Donald Lawrence certainly deserve the credit for delivering an outstanding version of Frankie Beverly and Maze’s timeless classic, “I Wanna Thank You.”
This is the first nomination for the label, as the award season prepares to get underway. Frankie Beverly’s son Anthony remarked that receiving this distinction is a nod that his father’s music “is finally being recognized and remains relevant almost 40 years later.”
“We are very excited about this tremendous consideration from the Stellar Awards,” said Beverly. “In my father’s 40-year career, he has never been nominated for any award so this recognition is as much about what he has contributed to music. He is a living legend and I am so honored that the Clark Sisters, J. Moss, Kierra Sheard and Donald Lawrence helped salute my father with such an amazing gift. I couldn’t think of anyone else who could have delivered what their family has done for my dad.”
The brain child of Anthony and Heather Beverly, Silky Soul Music was first released August 25 digitally and in stores September 29 and continues to build buzz and notoriety around the globe. With only five weeks since its physical release, the album is no. 16 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop chart and no. 24 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart. The music video of the album’s debut single “Can’t Get Over You” performed by Kedar Entertainment recording artist Joe is in the top 10 of the new BET Centric channel.
The ten-song CD features brand new studio recordings of Maze’s biggest hits such as “Joy and Pain” and “Before I Let Go.” The set boasts an impressive list of artists such as the legendary Mary J. Blige, Musiq Soulchild, Ledisi, Kem, Mint Condition, Joe, Raheem DeVaughn, Kevon Edmonds, Avant and the Clark Sisters with J. Moss and Kierra Sheard.

It's that "Golden Time of Day," Frankie Beverly is without a doubt the man! The Grammy folks and everyone else that doesn't want to recognize this brother's accomplishments! Shame on them!

Frankie Beverly and Maze are the best group in the world. For almost 40 years they have spread the love in song and should have gotten this Stellar award years ago, but that is okay. They now have it. Love is the Key and we continue to love Frankie and the band. Frankie Beverly continued to stay in the music world with all of his live concerts and this is an award, to stay in the business without a new record. He is so great that he don't need to put out anything new, we will go Near and Far to see this man perform his songs. We Love You Frankie Beverly and Maze. Keep up the good work.
