Kathy Taylor, an accomplished National Recording Artist,
Minister of Music, songwriter, producer, and community activist has
been appointed for a time such as this to bring music that not only
inspires, but encourages, uplifts, and heals the spirit and soul of
mankind. Kathy is the walking embodiment of the term “Minister of
Music.”
Kathy’s
musical gifts have brought her before both national and world leaders.
She has ministered before Queen Elizabeth II, former President Bill
Clinton, Senator Hillary Clinton, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee,
Rev. Jesse Jackson, Cicely Tyson, Maya Angelou, and many others. Kathy
has received resounding critical acclaim for her outstanding,
soul-stirring, and inspirational performances.
Kathy began her recording career as a
soloist with the legendary James Cleveland’s Gospel Music of America
and The Mass Choir. She was the featured vocalist on songs such as, “Anticipation,” “It’s Your Decision,” “He Did It,” and “I Got My Joy Back.” These projects, along with her captivating and live performances, have catapulted Kathy into the national spotlight.
In her never ending quest to serve the Kingdom of God, Kathy answered her calling and founded Kathy Taylor and Favor,
a multi-talented singing ensemble known for its meticulous and
breathtaking harmonies. They have graced the stage with many of today’s
most renowned gospel artists. To their acclaim, they have released
three projects to date. The first two albums produced by Kathy were
entitled “He’s Worthy” and “What Would It Profit Me to Gain the Whole World and Lose My Soul?” which were both well received. The third album, “Taylormade,”
was released on Aleho International Records, under the leadership of
gospel music executive Al “The Bishop” Hobbs and produced by
Grammy-Award-winning, legendary gospel music producer Sanchez Harley.
This powerful collaboration produced an incredible project that yielded
a Stellar Award Nomination.
The best is yet to come, as Kathy now prepares to release her newest project (which she executive produced) entitled, “Kathy Taylor Live, The Worship Experience.” This project will be released on the Katco Music Group label. This much-anticipated and much-talked about project will be released this summer and has already received rave reviews and overwhelming pre-sales. “The Worship Experience” is an amazing collection of songs which is designed to usher the listener into the presence of the Living God. The eagerly awaited hit single, “Oh How Precious,” has garnered phenomenal response at radio. This song is destined to become a hit as it takes its place on the billboard charts.
Kathy
currently serves as Minister of Music at Windsor Village United
Methodist Church in Houston, which is the largest United Methodist
Church in America, under the dynamic leadership of Pastor Kirbyjon H.
Caldwell. Windsor
Village, having over 15,000 members, has become a prototype for
ministry throughout the world. There, Kathy oversees a massive Music
and Arts department that is comprised of over 1,200 staff members and
volunteers. The innovative programs instituted by Kathy have set a new
standard for music ministry. From her Black History Series that
featured the Sacred Music of Duke Ellington, which
was presented with a thirty-six piece orchestra, actors, and dancers,
to her annual Worship and Arts Conference, she has brought together
some of the most critically acclaimed experts in the nation, and her
ever-increasing standard of excellence continues to positively impact
lives.
Continuing a family legacy of community involvement, Kathy founded Katco Arts Academy,
a summer youth program which is committed to empowering socially and
economically challenged youth. This unique program provides youth the
opportunity to be inspired and to develop their hidden gifts and
talents by being exposed to the world of mentorship. This creative outlet has served as a springboard for several local youth to enjoy national opportunities with the Alvin Ailey Dance Troupe, Showtime at the Apollo, and American Idol. Kathy also serves on the YMCA’s Board of Directors where she consistently works to make a difference by serving her community.
Kathy’s community service contributions also include her work as the Director of Music for the National Day of Prayer observance in Houston. She has appeared on national television networks including TBN, The Bobby Jones Show, DayStar, and BET.
Kathy has facilitated many national Gospel Music Workshops in addition
to being a much sought after Praise and Worship leader. She has been
the Special Guest Artist at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s
Annual Prayer Breakfast, Indiana Black Expo, and many other events
which have showcased her unlimited musical talents. Kathy is also
working in conjunction with the Houston Grand Opera to increase
cultural awareness in the community.
Kathy’s purpose is tri-fold. She has fully embraced her mission to carry the gospel in song all over the world. Through Kathy, God continues to pour out His
Spirit. Her dedication to the Body of Christ and limitless love of God
places Kathy in a unique position to minister the “Good News” of Jesus
Christ. Today, Kathy allows herself to be a vessel God
can use to pour out His spirit upon all flesh, for tomorrow she desires
to make the music relevant to the next generation. For yesterday, she
stands humbly on the shoulders of her mother and grandmother to carry
the gospel in song to the uttermost parts of the world.

This is some of the most wonderful displays of talent that I have ever heard. This article, which is beautifully written, portrays not only a lovely, talented artist, but a dedicated child of God, who is inspiring and uplifting. She uses her talents to touch so many for Christ's precious name's sake and to be a messenger for Him as well. Along with the numerous other benefit's of Kathy's music and God given talent, I must say that I am so thankful to have had this opportunity to be a sister in Christ and it would be an honor to meet her.
