Detroit Finally Responds to Chicago Artist R. Kelly’s “Happy People”.
DETROIT, Mich., Sept. 26, 2010 – J. Poww, formerly of the gold-selling R&B powerhouse group U.N.V., gives Detroit something to dance about as he drops “Ballroom’s Best,” the long-awaited counter to the Chicago Step phenomenon that exploded after R. Kelly’s release of “Happy People.”
“I’ve got all the respect in the world for Kels and what’s he’s done for the music industry and steppin’ as a whole,” says J. Poww, “and it is now time for Detroit to have its own Ballroom Anthem.”
While Chicago is known for the Step, Detroit is infamous for its version of Ballrooming—the City’s added flair has created a spin off of the dance know as “Detroit-Style” Ballroom and is guaranteed to solicit a huge crowd of participants whenever it’s performed.
“Ballroom’s Best” is featured on J. Poww’s forthcoming sophomore album, Journey of a Man, scheduled to be released online Oct. 23, 2010, by Powwer Moves Records LLC. The song, which was written, produced and performed by J. Poww, incorporates a simple routine that can be picked up by even the least coordinated individual:
-MORE-
Take it to the Front Front (Now Clap)
We gon’ take it to the Back Back (Now Clap)
Now we gon’ take it to the Side Side
Now lemme see you Slide Slide

A music video, which is currently in the works by Throw Back Media, will encompass this routine along with several individual elegant dances performed by fluent Detroit Ballroomers.
J. Poww’s Ballroom joint is rapidly hitting clubs and Ballroom classes with great response. The vibrant upbeat track, which is produced by up-and-coming JuSaMeLoDy/T3k Beats, provides a perfect canvas for Ballroomers, Steppers and Hustlers, alike, to display their flamboyant moves. “‘Ballroom’s Best" is the hottest choreographed song since R. Kelly’s ‘Happy People’,” says Detroit’s DJ Talent. “The song gives Detroit the opportunity to showcase the artistic talent that cultivates the City.”
Just as “Happy People” put Chicago on the map as the originators of the Step, “Ballroom’s Best” will remind the world that Ballrooming was perfected right here in Detroit.

Who doesn’t love a Ballroom song, but combined with the smooth sultry sound of his voice, this one is truly amazing. This song has true Motown pride. I really love this artist! I thoroughly enjoyed his last album and had high expectation for Journey of a Man, expectations that were ultimately exceeded! This album reminds you of a time when music talked about love and relationships. If you haven't picked it up yet, I strongly recommend you going to iTunes and getting your copy!
