Yohe Celebrates Twenty Years on the Road & Her 10th Recording With What Promises to Be One of the Most Anticipated Live Recording & Praise Experiences of 2011!

A lot of artists sing about saving souls but Vicki Yohe is actually doing it. For close to a decade, the dynamic vocalist has devoted her time to raising orphans in Uganda with the orphanage, New Destiny for Children, she and her husband have founded there. It’s an outgrowth of her music ministry that has taken her around the globe. Yohe has ministered in song alongside some of today's well known pastors and evangelists including Bill Winston, Juanita Bynum, Benny Hinn, TD Jakes, Creflo Dollar, Darlene Bishop and Paula White. Her own ministry brings a powerful message through song and the word to thousands of people around the world, during her over 150 concert services and numerous television appearances every year. The dynamic Stellar and Dove Award nominee has become one of gospel music’s favorite artists in recent years with her signature songs such as “Because of Who You Are,” “The Mercy Seat,” “Under The Blood” and “Something About My Praise.” In 2009 Vickie Yohe made her critically acclaimed Shanachie Entertainment debut, Reveal Your Glory: Live from the Cathedral, her first live recording, and the following year released her DVD of the same title (both recorded at the Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral in Atlanta, GA. The proceeds of the DVD benefited Yohe’s New Destiny for Children Foundation. Yohe is still making the heartfelt praise and worship music that has made her popular in so many quarters around the world. On Saturday, April 30, 2011 Vicki Yohe will record her tenth album, Somebody Worship, live at Bethel World Outreach at 7 PM. The event is free and open to the public.

Celebrated recording artist and producer Kendall Duffie, who produced Yohe’s Reveal Your Glory, will produce Somebody Worship. Duffie has produced and executive produced a host of artists from various genres including Stellar Award winning artists Bishop Paul S. Morton and Evelyn Turrentine-Agee, as well as Maysa Leak and Mitchell Jones of Commissioned. Vicki will be joined by a 30 voice choir, dynamic praise team, special guest Canton Jones, and an all-star band whose musicians have collaborated with some of the industry’s leading stars like Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Shirley Caesar and Bebe and CeCe Winans. Yohe’s ensemble will feature her musical director and keyboardist Ayron Lewis, organist Ralph Lofton, bassist Simeon Baker, drummer Allen Mabson and guitarist Tom Hemby. Also vocal arranger Fred Vaughn who has arranged vocals for GMWA Mass Choir, Elton John, Kenny Loggins and a host of others will contribute as choir arranger and conducter.

Born into a minister's family, Vicki wrote and sang her first song at the age of five and by 17 she entered bible school. After two years, she accepted a Music Director's position near Baton Rouge, LA.  Vicki and her sister, Terri, were a teenage singing duo who traveled with their evangelizing father.  Her musical influences included Tramaine Hawkins and Aretha Franklin. In 1992, she recorded her first project, Everlasting Love, which was followed by I Give You Love in 1995 and He Knows My Heart in 1997.   Christmas Presence was released in 2000 followed by Beyond This Song the following year. Upon meeting CeCe Winans at a television taping, the two artists discovered they were fans of each other’s music. Not long after, Winans signed Yohe as her first artist on her newly created PureSprings Gospel label.   The first single, I Just Want You, was a huge success off of the strength of the radio single, “Because of Who You Are,” it garnered nominations for both Dove and Stellar awards. Her second release from PureSprings was He’s Been Faithful. Yohe says that God has been faithful to her. She and her husband/manager, Troy Hodges, have wanted children for years. “I couldn’t have children,” she says. “So, God opened up the door for us to adopt.” In 2005, they adopted their newborn, Walker.  That same year, Yohe and her husband founded New Destiny for Children, an orphanage in Jinja, Uganda where they are now mom and dad to forty children. In December 2007, Vicki & Troy adopted their second newborn Adley. The vision of New Destiny for Children Foundation is based on operating in excellence. The children not only live in a safe environment, but each child experiences a life that once was unimaginable. New Destiny’s goal is not limited to simply feeding, housing, and educating the children.  Rather they are empowering them to impact their community and Uganda as a whole.  Vicki and her husband believe that through education and love, the children will walk in truth and flourish in life, and that the children at New Destiny are tomorrow’s leaders. “I’ve been nominated for several awards and ministered to 2.8 million people at a Benny Hinn crusade in India but none of this feels as good as taking care of my children in Uganda. I could not have my orphanage if I did not have this platform as a singer,” explains Yohe. “This has changed my whole outlook on life.  I know that this is my destiny.”

New Destiny Children's home has been shut down, by the Ugandan government. The children that remain are living in a terrible conditions. They Yohi's have defaulted on several debts from the home. I am surprised and horrified to see Viki is continuing to raise money for a home that doesn't exist.
